Haddington Pleasance Garden

The Duke is the current President of the Lamp of Lothian Trust who operate out of the Elizabeth Hamilton Buildings. Nearby Haddington Pleasance Garden is maintained by the Haddington Garden Trust SCIO. Both ventures were originally started by his grandparents, Douglas & Elizabeth, the 14th Duke and Duchess of Hamilton.

The Lamp of Lothian Trust continue to offer local organisations and clubs the use of the venue for a variety of arts, crafts and music classes for all ages. More details can be found here.

The Haddington Pleasance Garden, a 17th century styled Scottish garden, located minutes from the Haddington town centre can be visited throughout the season. See here for more details.

St Mary’s Parish Church is also minutes away from the garden and the River Tyne. History enthusiasts of the Maitland family can view the Lauderdale aisle where John, 1st Lord of Maitland, his wife, son and daughter-in-law were interred in the family vault both of whom lived at Lethington Tower, now known as Lennoxlove House.
